Compression socks: when to wear them

Compression socks: when to wear them

Compression socks are no longer just for runners. More and more padel and tennis players wear them on court, and even more pull them on after a long day of matches.

So when do they actually help on court, and when are they better saved for recovery?

When should padel and tennis players wear compression socks?

Wear compression socks during play when you want extra support for your calves and ankles through long matches and constant lateral movement. Wear them after play to support your legs during recovery, especially on tournament days or after back-to-back sessions. Many players do both.

Why court sports are tough on your lower legs

Padel and tennis rarely ask for long, steady efforts. They ask for hundreds of short, explosive ones:

  • Split-steps and sprints that load the calves on every point.
  • Lateral lunges and recoveries that challenge ankle stability.
  • Sudden stops that put stress on the Achilles tendon.
  • Long days at tournaments, with several matches and little rest in between.

During play: support where it matters

Our Compression socks use helicoidal compression, which wraps with the natural movement of your leg instead of squeezing it evenly. They are designed to support comfort, stability and circulation while you play.

Around the ankle, two supportive bands and an extended cuff protect the ankle and Achilles tendon from friction and irritation. That matters in court sports, where the shoe collar and constant direction changes put this area under pressure.

Wear them during play if: you play long matches, your calves tend to feel heavy late in a match, or you like the locked-in feeling of a knee-high sock.

After play: support for recovery

The same compression that supports you on court also supports your legs once the match is over. Pull them on after a hard session, a long training block or a tournament day. Read more in why compression socks matter for recovery.

Wear them after play if: you play again the next day, you play several matches in one day, or your legs feel heavy after intense sessions.

What makes the Active Rock Compression different

  • Helicoidal compression that follows the natural motion of the leg.
  • Knee-high fit for support from the foot to the calf.
  • Ankle and Achilles protection with supportive bands and an extended cuff.
  • Bamboo fibre blend of 80% bamboo, 15% polyamide and 5% elastane, for breathability and freshness.
  • Manufactured in Europe.

Getting the fit right

Compression only works when it fits. Our sizes follow your shoe size: EU 35–38 (US 5–6), EU 39–42 (US 7–9) and EU 43–45 (US 10–12). If you are between two sizes, pick the smaller one for a snug fit that stays in place. More in our size guide.

A note on health: our compression socks are sports socks, not medical devices. If you have a circulatory or other medical condition, ask your doctor before wearing compression.

Ready for longer matches?

Whether you wear them on court, after it, or both, Active Rock Compression socks are built for the demands of racket sports.
